Former West Ham, QPR and Czech Republic goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died aged 64, BBC Sport reported. West Ham said it was deeply saddened by the death of the former player and coach, who made almost 400 appearances for the club between 1990 and 1998 and later returned in a coaching role.

Miklosko was a popular figure at Upton Park and continued to be celebrated by supporters long after leaving. According to BBC Sport, he withdrew from cancer treatment in December 2024, having been diagnosed three years earlier, and then returned to West Ham’s London Stadium days later for a match against Liverpool, where he received a warm welcome.

West Ham said it would hold a period of appreciation for Miklosko before Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Fulham and dedicate its next home Championship match against QPR on 9 October to him. His son Martin said the family was heartbroken and thanked the club and supporters for their tributes.

BBC Sport also noted that Miklosko won promotion with West Ham in 1990-91, was named Hammer of the Year that season, and is remembered for his display on the final day of the 1994-95 Premier League campaign, when West Ham held Manchester United to a draw. He earned 42 senior caps across Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic and ended his career at Banik Ostrava.
