Turner, described by Fox as a 2025 Fever player now with the Las Vegas Aces, made the claim while responding to recent comments by Fever player Sophie Cunningham about transgender athletes in women’s sports.

According to Fox, Cunningham said in an ESPN interview that she wanted to protect girls’ sports and locker rooms from what she characterized as participation by “biological men.” Turner challenged that framing, arguing that transgender inclusion has not been a significant problem in the WNBA and pointing to former player Layshia Clarendon as the league’s only out transgender player. Turner contrasted that with what she described as broader concerns such as sexism, misogyny, homophobia and racism.
