What the report says

Fox News reported that the Indiana Fever are facing renewed attention after former player Brianna Turner alleged on X that the WNBA team dismissed a male staff member over sexual harassment allegations during her time with the organization and told players not to speak publicly about the matter. Turner, described by Fox as a 2025 Fever player now with the Las Vegas Aces, made the claim while responding to recent comments by Fever player Sophie Cunningham about transgender athletes in women’s sports.

According to Fox, Cunningham said in an ESPN interview that she wanted to protect girls’ sports and locker rooms from what she characterized as participation by “biological men.” Turner challenged that framing, arguing that transgender inclusion has not been a significant problem in the WNBA and pointing to former player Layshia Clarendon as the league’s only out transgender player. Turner contrasted that with what she described as broader concerns such as sexism, misogyny, homophobia and racism.

The Fever issued a statement Thursday saying the organization prioritizes the safety of players and employees and seeks to maintain a professional workplace. The team said it takes concerns seriously, investigates them and acts when appropriate, but added that it does not discuss personnel matters involving former employees in order to protect trust and safety in the process.

Fox reported that it was not clear whether the WNBA would review Turner’s allegation, and that the league had not publicly announced an investigation or commented as of Thursday. The dispute matters because it links a national debate over eligibility in women’s sports with questions about how professional teams handle internal misconduct claims.
