The issue involves a wiring harness in the engine area that may not have enough protective covering. Ford said exposed wiring can cause a short circuit, raising the possibility of a fire. According to the report, drivers experiencing the defect may see a dashboard warning or notice smoke coming through the air vents before flames appear from the passenger side of the engine compartment.
