What the report says

Finance Trust Bank has announced that Managing Director Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa will leave the institution in November 2026 to take up a new international leadership opportunity, ending a tenure of nearly 15 years at the bank. According to the Nile Post report, she will remain in post until then and work with the Board and executive team to support a smooth transition.

Nakawunde joined the bank in April 2007 and later rose to become managing director. During her leadership, Finance Trust Bank said it continued to build its business around financial inclusion, with a focus on women, young people, entrepreneurs and communities across Uganda. Board Chairperson Dr Evelyn Kigozi Kahiigi thanked her for her service and said succession planning had already begun.

The announcement comes as the lender enters a new phase after moving in April 2026 from a Tier I commercial bank to a Tier II credit institution, following approval from the Bank of Uganda. The change was linked to revised capital requirements for commercial banks and the institution’s decision to refocus on microfinance and small and medium-sized enterprise customers. That wider regulatory shift adds context to the leadership handover now underway.

Finance Trust Bank said it would communicate further details on future leadership arrangements in line with governance and regulatory processes. The bank said continuity and customer service remain its main priorities during the transition.
