Fifa has accused Uefa of running a “misinformation campaign” in a court filing tied to a dispute over documents related to Gianni Infantino and the shelved Fifa Forward Enterprise plan. The world governing body said Uefa’s claims about the Fifa president were false or misleading and rejected suggestions that he acted unlawfully or sought personal gain.

The row stems from legal papers Uefa filed last month in the United States, where it asked for disclosure of evidence from Fifa and warned it could consider a criminal complaint in Switzerland. Uefa had alleged “criminal mismanagement” and accused Infantino of promoting an off-market price for the proposed scheme for his own benefit. Fifa responded in the Southern District of Florida by opposing Uefa’s request for discovery.

The FFE proposal had aimed to sell stakes in major Fifa competitions to private investors, but it was later abandoned after drawing heavy criticism. Infantino has said the plan was meant to raise more money for football. The dispute comes amid wider tension between Fifa and Uefa, with BBC Sport reporting that some insiders want Fifa to publish the documents and move the process forward. Infantino is also due to seek a fourth term in 2027, keeping the governance battle politically significant.
