Manchester City’s 1-0 Premier League win over Coventry at the Etihad Stadium gave deadline-day signings Enzo Fernandez and Iliman Ndiaye their first league starts, with manager Enzo Maresca saying he was pleased by early signs from both players. BBC Sport reported that Fernandez, a £125m arrival from Chelsea, was originally named on the bench before a late change to the XI after Nico O’Reilly was hurt in the warm-up. Ndiaye, signed for £60m, also started and became the first Senegalese player to represent City.
