Farnborough Air Show 2026: Day 2 Digest – More Orders Trickle through

Boardingarea.com’s Economy Class & Beyond reported that Day 2 of the Farnborough Air Show 2026 brought a series of aircraft order announcements from Airbus and Boeing customers, with airlines in Asia, Africa and Europe using the event to outline fleet growth plans. The digest focused mainly on airframer deals, including new commitments, option conversions and memoranda of understanding.

Philippine Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for nine additional A350-1000 widebody aircraft. If finalized, Boardingarea reported, the deal would raise PAL’s A350-1000 order total to 18, with the type serving as the carrier’s flagship for long-haul routes, especially between Manila and North America. The airline’s planned configuration includes 382 seats across business, premium economy and economy cabins. Airbus also disclosed an order from Tajikistan-based Shohin Airlines for four A320neo-family aircraft, split between two A320neo and two A321neo jets, marking the start-up carrier’s first Airbus order.

On the Boeing side, Uganda Airlines committed to four 737-8s and four 787-9s, its first Boeing purchase, as part of a plan to expand and modernize services from Entebbe. Boardingarea said the airline currently serves 17 destinations in 13 countries. Boeing and the airline also highlighted training, technical development and the carrier’s ambition to build Entebbe’s role as a regional aviation hub.

Luxair also expanded its Boeing plans by converting two 737-10 options into firm orders and taking options for two more. After delivery of existing firm orders, the Luxembourg carrier’s 737 fleet is expected to include eight 737-8s and four 737-10s. The announcements matter because air show order activity offers a snapshot of airline confidence, fleet renewal priorities and manufacturer momentum.
