Dutch club SC Cambuur said supporters were injured after fireworks were thrown by Feyenoord fans during Sunday’s Eredivisie match at the Kooi Stadion in Leeuwarden. According to the BBC Sport report, play was paused for about 10 minutes in the first half after visiting supporters lit flares and launched fireworks from the away section, with some projectiles directed toward home fans.

SC Cambuur said five fans were confirmed injured, with reported harm including burns, hearing damage and eye injuries. The club said it would work with authorities to identify those responsible and stressed that fireworks have no place in a football stadium. The match was allowed to continue, and the BBC noted it would only have been abandoned if a player or match official had been struck.

Feyenoord said it strongly condemned the incident and said its head coach, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, apologised to SC Cambuur after the game. The club also said it would seek camera footage. Feyenoord general manager Robert Eenhoorn said the 5-2 win in Leeuwarden could not be celebrated in light of what happened, while local mayor Foort van Oosten and the Dutch football association both signalled further review. The KNVB said it may revisit its disorder protocols. The BBC also noted the case comes amid wider concern in Dutch football, after a previous Eredivisie match between Ajax and Groningen was abandoned following fireworks trouble.
