What the report says

Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain made a strong case for Scotland selection after producing a standout display in his side’s 2-0 home win over Celtic, BBC Sport reported. The result ended Falkirk’s 19-year wait for a victory against Celtic and moved the club up to fourth in the Scottish Premiership, while also extending their winning run to four matches.

Bain, a former Celtic player, was described by BBC Sport as the key figure in the match, making a series of saves as Falkirk recorded a third straight clean sheet. The report said he kept Celtic out with nine saves and helped his team go 342 minutes without conceding. His performance drew praise from former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner and from Falkirk manager John McGlynn, who thanked him for an important afternoon in goal.

The timing could also matter beyond club football. Scotland’s squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures is due to be announced this week, and BBC Sport said Bain may have improved his chances of being included. Bain, who has four Scotland caps, said he felt confident before the match and would be delighted to return to the national setup.

BBC Sport also noted that Bain signed a contract extension with Falkirk in January, keeping him at the club until 2028 with an option for another year.
