Exclusive: Komuntale Meets Tooro Royals, Speaks of Husband’s Bond With King Oyo

What the report says
Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale has met members of the Tooro royal family after returning to Uganda for the burial of her younger brother, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, according to Nile Post. The meetings included relatives such as Princess Elizabeth Bagaya Akiiki, Princess Rose Balinda Abwooli, Princess Margret Komubaizi (Muka Joy) and Chief Prince Musuuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki. Komuntale was accompanied by her husband, Anthony Philip Farquharson.
The report says the family gathering took place as the kingdom observed mourning and prepared for the final burial rites. King Oyo died on August 27, 2026, in the United States after treatment for cancer, and his body was returned to Uganda on September 4 before being taken to Tooro. Burial is scheduled for September 12 at the Karambi Royal Tombs in Fort Portal City.
Komuntale spoke positively about the relationship between her husband and the late king, saying Farquharson helped care for Oyo and was a strong support to the family. She described the two men as close and said they treated each other like brothers. Nile Post also notes that Farquharson is a Jamaican-American IT engineer and DJ, and that the couple married in 2021 and have one son.
The article adds broader context about King Oyo’s long reign, which began when he succeeded his father in 1995 and was later formally crowned in 2010. His death has prompted public discussion about succession, though the kingdom has cautioned against premature claims about who will follow him.
