MacRumors reports that Apple released the fourth developer beta of iOS 27 on Monday, July 20, as the company continues preparing the iPhone software update for an expected September launch. The outlet says this beta has fewer visible changes than earlier test versions, but it still adds and adjusts several features across Apple apps, Siri, camera settings and connectivity controls.

Among the user-facing changes, MacRumors says the Apple TV app now includes an Automatic Downloads setting that can download the next two episodes of shows in Continue Watching and remove them after playback. Photos gains a default-on “Zoom Photos to Fill” option for images close to the screen’s aspect ratio. Apple also removed a wallpaper effect introduced in beta 3 that displayed a subject cutout during Notification Center swipes.

Siri receives several interface and settings updates, according to the report. The voice selection screen has been revised, with expanded or forthcoming voice options depending on device support, while customizable Siri voices are currently limited to iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air. Users can also set Siri app preview length, enable an accessibility option that keeps request transcriptions visible, and see a new splash screen in the Siri Search or Ask interface.

Other beta 4 changes noted by MacRumors include a ProRes Log Video Encoding choice between Log and Log 2, per-network Connectivity Assist controls for Wi-Fi, redesigned AirPods controls in Control Center and more Adaptive mode options. The report also points to code references for an iPhone with two batteries, which MacRumors says could relate to speculation about a future foldable iPhone Ultra, though Apple has not announced such a device in the cited article.
