Everything Announced at the God of War Laufey SDCC Panel | Comic Con 2026 - IGN

What the report says
IGN reported from San Diego Comic-Con 2026 that Santa Monica Studio used its God of War Laufey panel to confirm both a release window date for the Faye-centered game and plans for another mainline entry led by Kratos. The panel was held in Ballroom 20 during IGN’s July 24-25 Comic-Con coverage and was led by game director Ariel Lawrence and studio creative head Cory Barlog.
According to IGN, God of War Laufey is scheduled for February 2027, with the article’s release-date item and game metadata listing February 16, 2027. One live-wrap line in the same report referred to February 26, 2027, so the exact date should be treated as needing confirmation from Sony or Santa Monica Studio. IGN also reported that the next Kratos-focused God of War game will arrive after Laufey and will connect to Faye’s story.
The panel included cast members Deborah Ann Woll as Laufey/Faye, Chris Judge as Kratos, Jack Quaid as Phranque, and Perlina Lau as Rue. IGN’s account described discussion of Faye as a reluctant hero and as a key influence on Kratos’ evolution in the recent Norse-era games. Barlog also framed Laufey as both a continuation of earlier storylines and a setup for what follows.
The announcements matter because God of War Laufey shifts the spotlight from Kratos to Faye, a character central to the emotional background of the 2018 God of War and its sequel. IGN noted that the game had been revealed in June and that its Comic-Con panel added the clearest information yet about timing, cast roles and the franchise’s next step.
