Everton sign Grealish as Zirkzee stays at Man Utd

Everton have completed a season-long loan signing of Jack Grealish from Manchester City, with the England midfielder returning to Merseyside after previously spending a loan spell at the club. BBC Sport reports that the move comes after Grealish was linked with other options, including a return to Aston Villa, but he has chosen to work again under David Moyes. Grealish is 30 and joined City from Villa in a record £100m deal in 2021.

The report says Everton had also tried to bring in Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee on transfer deadline day, but he is expected to remain at Old Trafford. Zirkzee became a target after Beto completed a permanent move to Fiorentina, leaving Everton looking for more attacking depth. The club had initially considered Tammy Abraham, who stayed at Aston Villa, and later agreed a £40m fee for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, though BBC Sport notes there was an issue with his medical and Everton remained hopeful of completing that deal before the deadline.
