Everton's Sherif charged with 61 alleged bets on matches

The Football Association has charged Everton forward Martin Sherif with allegedly breaching its betting rules, according to BBC Sport Football. The 20-year-old is said to have placed 61 bets on football matches over a period stretching from 20 November 2024 to 12 February 2026, and he has until Monday, 17 August to respond to the charge.

BBC Sport reported that Sherif has not yet made a senior first-team appearance for Everton. The Liberia-born attacker joined Everton’s youth system in 2019 and started training with the senior squad in early 2025. The FA statement cited by BBC Sport says the alleged breach relates to Rule E1.2.

Sherif’s recent career has included loan spells in the lower leagues. He spent time at Rotherham United last summer, scoring twice in 10 games before being recalled in December after a series of injuries. He later joined Port Vale for the rest of the season, where he scored twice in 17 League One appearances as the club were relegated.
