Brazil’s ambassador to Ethiopia, Jandyr Ferreira dos Santos, said bilateral ties are moving into a more promising phase, with room for greater cooperation in trade, investment and other strategic sectors. Agriculture was described as the most natural area for deeper collaboration, given its importance to both countries’ economies. Santos also said Ethiopia and Brazil could exchange expertise and technical knowledge in agriculture and other sectors, and he highlighted Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative as an example that could offer useful lessons for Brazil. He said he expects more investment and more trade if private-sector engagement increases.

The ambassador also reflected on his four years in Addis Ababa, saying he has seen major changes in the city and in Ethiopia’s economy. He cited economic liberalization, wider investment opportunities and the national dialogue as developments that have raised Ethiopia’s profile and created new openings for international cooperation. More broadly, his remarks suggest the two countries are aiming to build on decades of diplomatic relations with stronger institutional and business ties in the years ahead.
