What the report says

ERAM Uganda Limited has been named Best Veterinary Company in East Africa at the 2026 East Africa Brand Quality Awards, according to The Independent Uganda. The Kampala-based animal-health business received the Platinum Award and Quality Seal of Excellence at a ceremony held on Friday, October 16, at Hotel Africana’s Nile Hall. The recognition is described as the company’s first regional award of this kind.

The report says the honour comes as ERAM marks 31 years in operation. Founded in 1995 by veterinary professionals Edward Muhigirwa and Dr. Alice Hope Banga, the company began as a small business in Kampala’s Container Village and has grown into a supplier of veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, equipment and supplements. It now operates from ERAM House on Hoima Road in Bakuli and also has a manufacturing plant in Lugazi.

Dr. Banga, who serves as director of finance and administration, said the award reflects the importance of quality and reliability in animal health, where products affect livestock, farmers and wider confidence in the sector. Human resources manager Diana Tumuheirwe also said staff development is central to maintaining standards as the company expands. The article adds that the awards process involved public nominations and expert assessment across areas such as product quality, customer care, innovation, sustainability and business performance.

Beyond ERAM’s business milestone, the recognition highlights Uganda’s growing role in the regional animal-health market. The company says it wants to expand manufacturing and reach more markets beyond Uganda, while the award could improve its visibility with investors, trade partners and customers across East and Southern Africa.
