What the report says

English coach Laura Kaminski has capped her first season in Norway by winning a league and cup double with SK Brann, a move she says has strengthened her case for future opportunities in management. BBC Sport reports that Kaminski took the Brann job in January after being approached to work abroad, and the club has also remained in contention in Europe, with a Europa Cup quarter-final place still possible next week.

Kaminski, 38, described the year in Bergen as intense but rewarding. She said the move meant long travel, time away from family and frequent trips across Norway and beyond, but also gave her experience of a different football culture and a team built to compete for trophies. BBC Sport notes that Brann expect to challenge for the Toppserien title, a contrast with her previous role at Crystal Palace, where she led the club to the Women’s Super League 2 title in 2024 before leaving in February 2025 after a difficult WSL season.

The coach said she has come away with new tactical ideas, particularly from Norway’s high-tempo, attack-minded style. She also believes the experience has broadened her coaching profile and could help open doors at a higher level.

Kaminski used the interview to encourage other female coaches to seek experience abroad, saying opportunities in English women’s football remain limited and hoping more chances emerge in the men’s game as well. BBC Sport framed her success as part of a wider discussion about the development and career pathways available to women coaches in England.
