Emorimor leads Teso delegation to Gen Saleh over Anita Among's situation

Nile Post reported that the Paramount Chief of Teso, Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot, also known as Papa Emorimor III, led a delegation to meet Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, commonly called Salim Saleh, at his residence in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District. The group included Iteso Cultural Union officials, clan elders, leaders from Teso and five MPs led by Emmanuel Omoding, vice chairperson of the Teso Parliamentary Group.

According to the report, the delegation sought Saleh’s intervention over challenges facing former Speaker Anita Annet Among while investigations involving her continue. They asked for dialogue and reconciliation, and specifically requested that restrictions be eased, including the unfreezing of her bank accounts so she can meet personal and family needs. They also asked that she be allowed to attend parliamentary sittings and visit Bukedea, where she is an elected representative.

Nile Post said Emorimor urged that the matter be handled through engagement rather than confrontation, while Saleh told the delegation the concerns were being considered at senior government level. He reportedly cautioned Teso leaders against framing the issue as regional or tribal, saying it should be treated as a political and institutional matter. He also said he would discuss it with President Yoweri Museveni and other leaders.

The report adds that Saleh acknowledged remaining in contact with Among and advising her to stay calm. The meeting matters because it shows cultural and political leaders from Teso seeking a negotiated path around restrictions affecting a high-profile national political figure, while investigations and government consultations remain unresolved.
