Vogue reported that actor Emma Roberts married actor Cody John on Saturday, July 25, at a private residence in Idaho. The magazine’s wedding feature focused on Roberts’s final fitting one week earlier at Monique Lhuillier’s Los Angeles bridal salon, where the designer, Roberts’s stylists and bridesmaids Brit and Kara Elkin, and several family members and friends gathered to see the completed looks.

According to Vogue, Roberts wanted her main gown to feel old-world rather than traditionally bright white, drawing on her interest in antique books, collected ephemera and vintage objects. Lhuillier created a custom “antique rose” shade and used silk chiffon over a corseted structure, with a layered skirt, slit, draped bustle, removable lace shawl, chapel-length veil and lace face covering. The designer told Vogue the gown took nine months and close to 1,000 hours to complete.

The fitting also revealed how the dress could shift during the celebration, with Lhuillier describing multiple ways to wear the ensemble, including removing the lace shawl to expose a strapless neckline. Vogue described an emotional reaction from Roberts’s mother, relatives and friends when she appeared in the gown, followed by a toast.

For the after-party, Roberts chose an archival Lhuillier look from the designer’s fall 2004 collection: a black Chantilly lace corset top with a tea-length layered silk organza skirt. The feature positions the wedding wardrobe as a collaboration between Roberts, Lhuillier and the Elkin sisters, emphasizing a personal, vintage-inspired approach to celebrity bridal fashion.
