Emery in line for new Villa deal - Thursday's gossip

What the report says

A BBC Sport Football gossip roundup says Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is in advanced talks over a new contract, with the report linking the discussions to recent speculation about Manchester United interest. The article does not say a deal has been completed, but presents the talks as well advanced and a significant development for Villa as they try to secure their current manager.

The same roundup also highlights transfer and contract situations involving several Premier League clubs. Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni, 19, is expected to sign a new deal after Nottingham Forest had a £30m bid rejected in the summer. Elsewhere, Leeds United could move for Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, 23, on a permanent basis in January, with the piece saying Valencia are preparing to end his loan spell.

BBC Sport also notes reported interest in Everton target Vitor Roque of Palmeiras, while Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all said to be scouting Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov. Another name linked with United is Como defender Jacobo Ramon, although Chelsea may also compete for him. The roundup adds background on other reported stories, including interest in Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Flamengo and uncertainty around Newcastle, but these are presented as media reports rather than confirmed moves.
