What the report says

TechCrunch reports that X has begun rolling out its X Money app in the United States for paying subscribers on the platform. The launch, reported July 28, 2026, gives eligible users access to an X Visa debit card that can be added to Apple Pay, along with in-app peer-to-peer transfers that X describes as instant and without fees or limits.

According to the TechCrunch article, users will also be sent a physical X Visa debit card. X Money says the card has no foreign transaction fees and allows free cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide. The company’s X Money account posted that the service is rolling out to U.S. Premium and Premium+ subscribers starting July 27.

TechCrunch says X Premium+ subscribers, whose plan costs $40 monthly or $395 annually, can qualify for a 6% APY. Premium subscribers, whose plan is $8 monthly or $84 annually, can access that same rate if they connect direct deposit to an X Money account. The report also says X Money is advertising up to 3% cash back on some purchases and early access to direct-deposited funds.

The rollout is significant because it advances Elon Musk’s long-running push to expand X beyond social networking. TechCrunch notes that Musk founded the financial services startup X.com in 1999 before it became part of PayPal, later bought Twitter in 2022, renamed it X, and reacquired the X.com domain. X Money fits into his stated ambition to build an “everything app,” though the report does not detail broader banking partners, regulatory arrangements, or adoption figures.
