WHEC reports that eligible Amazon Prime customers have until Monday, July 27, to submit a claim under a $2.5 billion settlement involving Prime enrollment and cancellation practices. The station reported that the settlement applies to some U.S. consumers who signed up for Prime or attempted to cancel during the period from June 23, 2019, through June 23, 2025. Amazon denied wrongdoing but agreed to changes intended to make Prime cancellation easier.

According to WHEC, the settlement separates eligible customers into two payment categories. The Automatic Payment Group includes U.S. consumers who enrolled in Prime through a challenged enrollment flow during the covered period, used no more than three Prime benefits in a 12-month period, and otherwise meet the settlement criteria. Those customers do not need to file a claim; Amazon is expected to send payments to people it identifies as eligible, covering applicable Prime membership fees.

A second category, the Claim Process Payment Group, applies to customers who are not receiving automatic payments but may still qualify. WHEC reports that eligible people in this group should receive notice by email or mail and may file if they unintentionally enrolled in Prime or tried unsuccessfully to cancel through Amazon’s online process during the covered period, used fewer than 10 Prime benefits in a 12-month span, and did not already receive an automatic payment.

The report says customers in the claim process may receive up to $51. The deadline matters because eligible customers who must file a claim could lose access to a payment if they do not submit the form by the stated date.
