Education Ministry Gives Shs10m to Presidential CEO Charity Run for Special Needs Children

The Ministry of Education and Sports has contributed Shs10 million to the second edition of the Presidential CEO Charity Run, a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting children with special needs at Entebbe Welfare School. According to Nile Post, the money will help fund construction of classroom blocks at the school, which serves children with special needs in Entebbe.

State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwanga represented the ministry at the 2026 charity run in Entebbe Municipality, where he flagged off participants in the five-kilometre race and handed over the contribution. Ogwanga said the ministry supports the initiative and wants to see the event grow into a larger annual fundraiser. He also praised the municipality’s development work, including road improvements.

The event drew residents and participants from surrounding areas, and organisers said the public response was strong. Irene Birungi Mugisha, chief executive officer of the Presidential CEO Forum, welcomed the turnout, while Entebbe Municipality Mayor Fabrice Rulinda said fundraising would continue until the school sees tangible improvements.

The run was held under the theme “Save a Life, Change a Future.” Organisers said the wider activities, including a luncheon with children from the school, were meant to promote inclusion and highlight the need for equal support and opportunities for children with special needs.
