East Africa: New NBO2 Data Centre Strengthens Kenya's Bid to Become East Africa's Digital Hub

Kenya has opened the NBO2 data centre in Nairobi, a new facility that adds capacity to the country’s digital infrastructure and supports its push to become East Africa’s leading technology hub. The facility is operated by Digital Realty after its acquisition of iColo. The event was attended by U.S. and Kenyan officials as well as industry leaders, underscoring the regional and international interest in Kenya’s digital infrastructure plans. More broadly, data centre expansion is becoming important across Africa as demand rises for online services and data-heavy applications, though the specific impact of NBO2 will depend on how businesses use the facility over time.
