What the report says

Police in Mityana are investigating a fatal crash on the Mityana-Mubende Road in which a Mitsubishi Canter overturned and ended up in Pamujjugu Swamp. According to Nile Post, the accident happened at about 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as the white vehicle, registration UBJ 494H, was travelling from Mityana toward Mubende.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Felix Kaganda, died at the scene. Two other occupants, Reagan Ssekandi, 27, and Enock Kanyike, 22, were rescued from the wreckage and taken to Mityana General Hospital for treatment. All three were reported to be residents of Kazinga, Kasangati in Wakiso District.

Police said traffic officers visited and documented the scene, and the wreckage was taken to the Mityana traffic parking yard while investigations continue. Preliminary findings suggest reckless driving may have played a role, but authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause. The body of Kaganda was taken to the mortuary at Mityana General Hospital for a postmortem.

The crash adds to wider concerns about road safety in Uganda, where police regularly warn motorists about speed, loss of control and other risky driving behavior. In this case, the reported sequence of events underscores how quickly a single vehicle incident can turn fatal and leave multiple passengers injured.
