What the report says

Ugandan police have arrested the driver they say was involved in a fatal crash along Entebbe Road at Nalulanda that killed two journalists and left another entertainer badly injured, according to Sqoop Uganda. The suspect was identified as Kigozi John Baptist and was said to have been detained in a joint inter-agency operation after the incident.

Sqoop Uganda reported that the crash claimed the lives of Sanyuka TV producer and trade marketing officer Badru Kasirye, and digital content creator Isaac Ndamagye. Entertainment presenter Brian “Macona” Ssemanda was also seriously hurt and remains under medical care. The accident reportedly happened in the early hours of Monday as the three were returning from a celebrity boxing event.

The update was shared by SP Michael Kananura, the Community Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer in the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, on his X account. He said the driver would be taken to court at the appropriate time to face charges related to the crash.

The arrest adds a new step in the case, while the media and entertainment community continues to mourn the deaths and follow the recovery of the injured presenter. In general, serious road crashes on major Ugandan highways often draw public attention because they raise concerns about road safety, enforcement, and emergency response.
