Bleacher Report reported that Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a new one-year contract worth $27.7 million, keeping the veteran forward with the franchise that drafted him. The deal was disclosed Tuesday by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul to ESPN’s Shams Charania, according to the report.

The agreement follows a period in which Golden State explored major roster moves, including a pursuit of LeBron James. Bleacher Report said the Warriors learned four days earlier that James would not join Green and Stephen Curry and would instead sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. Green had declined a $27.7 million player option for the 2026-27 season on June 29, a move framed in the report as creating flexibility for the team to chase James and other upgrades.

Green’s return is significant because of his long history with Golden State. Selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft out of Michigan State, he has been central to the Warriors’ championship era. His résumé includes four NBA titles, a Defensive Player of the Year award, nine All-Defensive selections, two All-NBA selections and four All-Star appearances.

Bleacher Report noted that while Green is no longer at his peak, his defensive versatility, passing and chemistry with Curry remain important to Golden State’s system. The Warriors are trying to rebound from a 37-45 season in 2025-26, and retaining Green preserves veteran leadership and postseason experience as they seek to reenter the Western Conference contender picture.
