Dozens of attacks in southern Thailand wound three people

What the report says
Dozens of coordinated arson and incendiary attacks across southern Thailand injured at least three people and damaged or destroyed government property, according to the Thai military. The Internal Security Operations Command said there were 51 attacks late on Saturday, affecting local government offices and several vehicles in multiple locations across the southern border provinces.
Most of the incidents were reported in Narathiwat province, with additional attacks in nearby Yala and Pattani. Provincial officials said three civilians were hurt in a roadside bombing in Narathiwat: two women and a young man, all of whom were taken to hospital in stable condition. Authorities also said a curfew was imposed overnight in parts of Narathiwat, and that security forces were investigating damage at sites including telecommunications towers, electrical poles and a local government office.
The military said some of the attacks were meant to create unrest, and one railway route in Narathiwat was temporarily suspended after damage was found on the tracks. Officials also reported a stolen vehicle from a subdistrict office that was later found abandoned. No group has claimed responsibility.
The attacks come against the backdrop of a long-running separatist conflict in Thailand’s Muslim-majority far south, where violence has continued for years despite periodic peace efforts. Al Jazeera, citing AFP and Reuters, reported that talks between the Thai government and the main separatist group have faced persistent disagreements over autonomy, security and representation.
