What the report says

BBC Sport reports that England won two gold medals in 3x3 basketball at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on 29 July 2026, led by the men’s team successfully defending the title it won in Birmingham four years earlier. England beat Australia 19-17 in a repeat of the 2022 final, while Scotland took bronze in the men’s competition.

The England men’s squad — Evan Walshe, Jamell Anderson, Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Ashley Hamilton — reached the final by defeating New Zealand. The BBC said the final against Australia was close throughout, before Anderson and Lautier-Ogunleye helped England move 18-14 ahead late on. Lautier-Ogunleye led England’s scoring in the final with seven points. The win was also notable for Hamilton, who made his Commonwealth Games debut at 37 after missing the 2018 and 2022 Games.

England’s wheelchair women’s 3x3 team also claimed gold, beating Scotland 18-10 in the final after defeating Canada by the same score in the semi-final. Charlotte Moore, Lucy Robinson, Joy Haizelden and Jade Atkin made up the winning side, improving on England’s bronze medal finish in Birmingham; Moore, Haizelden and Atkin were also part of that 2022 team.

There were further medals and results across the 3x3 programme. England’s wheelchair men won silver after a 19-13 loss to Australia, who retained their title. Australia also won the women’s 3x3 final, beating Uganda 21-11, while England’s women had earlier been eliminated by Jamaica.
