Do Walukuba Barbarians stand a chance of winning the Uganda Rugby Cup this time?

What the report says
Walukuba Barbarians advanced in the Uganda Cup after beating fellow Jinja side Kakira Simbas 40-21 in a round of 16 match at the Ruck Yard last weekend, according to The Observer. That result set up a quarterfinal against defending champions Stanbic Black Pirates, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at King’s Park arena in Bweyogerere.
The Observer said Pirates also progressed comfortably, defeating Mbale Elephants 43-3. The report added that the defending champions have been a difficult opponent for Walukuba in recent meetings, including in league and knockout play, and that Walukuba have not won a 15s match at King’s Park against Pirates in previous attempts. The paper framed the upcoming tie as a chance for Walukuba to reverse that pattern.
Walukuba coach Leonard Lubambula told the publication that his side is not in bad shape and wants to use the Cup run to build toward next year’s Enterprise Cup. He said the team showed strength in set pieces against Kakira but still needs work, especially defensively, after a period of limited competitive 15s rugby. The Observer also noted that Walukuba are benefiting from the return of several key players, while Pirates arrive with a relatively fresh squad after a long break from league play.
