Djokovic wins China Open after de Minaur retires, Alcaraz wins Japan Open

What the report says
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz each claimed ATP titles on Tuesday in Asia, according to Al Jazeera’s report from the Beijing and Tokyo tournaments. Djokovic won the China Open after Australia’s Alex de Minaur retired from the final because of injury, while Alcaraz defended his Japan Open crown with a straight-sets win over Czech player Jiri Lehecka.
In Beijing, Djokovic took the opening set in a tiebreak and was ahead early in the second when de Minaur stopped playing. The Serbian’s victory marked the 102nd title of his career and extended his strong record in the Chinese capital. De Minaur said at the trophy presentation that he was sorry he could not finish the match and hoped to return next year.
In Tokyo, Alcaraz recovered from an uneven start to beat Lehecka 7-6(4), 6-4. The ATP 500 triumph was his third title of 2026, after earlier wins at the Australian Open and Qatar Open, and it came after a long injury layoff that kept him out for nearly five months. Alcaraz said the win was especially meaningful after his comeback and noted the mental challenge of returning healthy and confident.
The results matter because they reinforce Djokovic’s continued longevity at the top level and show Alcaraz regaining momentum after injury. Alcaraz is set to continue his Asian swing at the Shanghai Masters, while Djokovic’s Beijing win adds another milestone to an already record-rich career.
