Diomande agrees Real Madrid terms as PSG step away

BBC Sport reports that RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has reached an agreement on personal terms with Real Madrid, with Paris St-Germain no longer pursuing the Ivory Coast international. The 19-year-old, who featured in all four of Ivory Coast’s World Cup matches this summer, is now positioned for a move to Spain if Real and Leipzig complete the transfer.

According to the BBC, PSG had been interested in Diomande but decided not to compete further with Real Madrid. The report says PSG’s final offer, worth £102.5m, was rejected on Sunday. Liverpool had also previously targeted the player, with an opening bid of £69m turned down in June, before switching attention elsewhere.

The proposed Real Madrid deal is expected to exceed £100m. BBC Sport says Diomande’s personal terms are structured similarly to Jude Bellingham’s contract, with performance-related incentives and annual improvements built in. Real Madrid figures Jose Angel and Juni Calafat are reported to have tracked Diomande for around five years, with sources close to the club saying their interest was not simply a reaction to his World Cup performances.

Diomande joined Leipzig from Leganes last summer on a five-year contract after earlier moving from Ivory Coast to an academy in the United States. He was named the Bundesliga’s young player of the season for 2025-26 after recording 12 goals and eight assists. Leipzig are said to have wanted to keep him, but the scale of interest from leading European clubs and the potential sale price have made that difficult.
