The Hill, citing Nexstar reporting, says eligible Amazon Prime customers have only a few days left to seek payments from a $2.5 billion settlement tied to the company’s subscription practices. The claim deadline is Monday, July 27, according to settlement administrators, and approved payments are capped at $51, though some could be under $1.

The settlement followed Federal Trade Commission allegations that Amazon used deceptive enrollment processes to sign up millions of customers for paid Prime memberships and made cancellation difficult. Amazon agreed to pay $2.5 billion, with $1.5 billion designated for customer refunds, and to stop the challenged enrollment and cancellation practices. The company did not admit wrongdoing and has said it followed the law while settling to move forward.

The Hill reported that some customers have already received automatic refunds. Others may file claims if they were U.S. Prime members who signed up between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025; were unintentionally enrolled through the challenged process or unsuccessfully tried to cancel; and used more than three but fewer than 10 Prime benefits during that period. The FTC said Amazon was to notify qualifying customers who had not received automatic refunds, with notices sent by mail or email and postmarked in late January.

Claims can be submitted through the settlement website using the claim ID and PIN from the notice, though there is also a process for people without those details. Officials warned that filing does not require a fee, Social Security number or Amazon login. Payments are expected later this year.
