D4vd's Tesla Was Filled With Air Fresheners When Celeste Rivas Hernandez's Body Was Discovered - Rolling Stone

What the report says
Rolling Stone reported that testimony in a Los Angeles preliminary hearing focused on evidence found in a Tesla Model X belonging to singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. LAPD criminalist Chelsea Murillo testified that at least 11 air fresheners were recovered from the vehicle after the decomposing remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez were discovered in two bags in a storage area under the front hood in September 2025.
Murillo said she noticed a strong odor consistent with decomposition while processing the vehicle and described one air freshener found beneath fly larvae near where the body had been concealed. She also testified that a blood-detection chemical caused parts of the rear trunk and nearby paneling to glow, and said she understood some samples later tested positive for blood and the victim’s DNA. On cross-examination, defense lawyer Blair Berk emphasized that only two swabs taken after the bags were removed yielded blood DNA, and neither came from the passenger compartment.
Rolling Stone said a second LAPD criminalist, Lauren Wallace, described suspected blood evidence found during a search of Burke’s rental home, including areas of the garage, a rowing machine, a tarp and wipes. Wallace also testified about an inflatable pool prosecutors say was used during dismemberment; she said it had a laundry-like scent, dryer sheets attached, and one area that reacted to the blood-detection chemical.
Burke, 21, has pleaded not guilty to murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors allege he killed Rivas at his Hollywood Hills home in April 2025; his lawyer has said the evidence will show he did not murder her. The hearing will determine whether the case proceeds to trial.
