Crystal Palace re-sign Chilwell on permanent deal

Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signing of England defender Ben Chilwell from RC Strasbourg, bringing him back to Selhurst Park after a loan spell in the second half of the 2024-25 season. BBC Sport reports that Chilwell is returning after helping Palace win the FA Cup in May 2025, and that he previously joined Strasbourg from Chelsea in September 2025. The move was among Palace’s late transfer-deadline business, with the club submitting deal sheets to the Premier League after Tuesday’s 23:00 BST deadline.

Chilwell, who has 21 England caps, has also played for Chelsea, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town. In comments quoted by BBC Sport, he said it was good to be back and that he was looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, the squad and supporters.

Palace also confirmed the permanent signing of Netherlands international Quinten Timber from Marseille on a five-year contract. The 25-year-old midfielder has 13 caps for his country and was part of the Netherlands squad at this summer’s World Cup. In addition, Chile winger Dario Osorio arrived on a season-long loan from FC Midtjylland. The signings add experience and depth to a Palace side that won the Conference League, underlining the club’s continued strengthening after recent success.
