Al Jazeera reported that Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji said participating cricket teams will be offered hotel accommodation, while many other sports are being placed in more limited settings such as cruise-ship cabins, temporary container rooms and other makeshift facilities.

The cricket competition is scheduled for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya and the wider Aichi area from September 19 to October 4, with men’s and women’s T20 matches. The tournament will be staged at Korogi Sports Park, a converted baseball field about a 40-minute train ride from central Nagoya. The article said there have been growing questions about accommodation across the event because there is no dedicated athletes’ village and organisers are relying on temporary housing and hotels.

According to the report, the main organisers and the Asian Cricket Council have discussed cricket accommodation for some time. Miyaji said preparations had to begin from scratch on a short timeline and that the aim was to provide the best possible facilities within practical limits. He also said the playing surface should be of high quality.
