Uganda’s Cricket Cranes opened the final stage of their ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B campaign with a 90-run win over Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, in a match affected by rain and decided under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. The result gave Uganda two points and a strong start to a crucial stretch of fixtures in the tournament.

According to Nile Post, captain Riazat Ali Shah chose to bat first at the Estim Ground, TCA Arena–UDSM. Uganda reached 51 without loss before a long rain delay, and the game was later reduced to 20 overs per side. After play resumed, Uganda posted 142 for eight, with Raghav Dhawan top-scoring on 43 and Simon Ssesazi adding 35. Tanzania’s revised target was 162 from 20 overs.

Uganda then controlled the chase with spin bowling. Henry Ssenyondo took three wickets for seven runs and was named Player of the Match, while Joseph Baguma also finished with three wickets. Tanzania briefly recovered through Dhrumit Mehta’s 24 off 15 balls, but the innings collapsed soon after and ended at 71 all out in 17.4 overs.

The report said Uganda will next play Italy on Tuesday, August 11, followed by Hong Kong-China the next day, as they continue their bid for valuable qualification points.
