Eurogamer reports that Sega will run a closed network test for Crazy Taxi: World Tour, giving some players an early chance to try the online side of the game ahead of its expected 2027 release window. The test will be available on PC via Steam and the Xbox app, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and is scheduled as a single session from 11 September to 13 September.

Sign-ups are already open and will close on 31 August at 11:59pm PT, which is 2:59am ET and 7:59am BST on 1 September. Players must be at least 13 and need a Sega account to register, but Eurogamer notes that registration does not guarantee access. The test is limited to selected countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, the United Kingdom, several European and Middle Eastern markets, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Southeast Asia.

According to Sega’s test details cited by Eurogamer, the focus is on checking the stability of online multiplayer, so single-player and story content will not be included. Participants will be able to play two modes: Pickup Race, a six-player competition to deliver as many passengers as possible within a time limit, and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies, a team-based mode. Ranked play, custom lobbies, two maps, six cars, four characters, and some car tuning options will be available.

Eurogamer adds that Crazy Taxi: World Tour was announced earlier in June and drew attention over generative AI use, with series creator Kenji Kanno later saying generated material had been used only as reference.
