What the report says

Gematsu reports that SEGA has scheduled a closed network test for Crazy Taxi: World Tour on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series platforms and PC. The test is set to begin September 11 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET and end September 13 at the same time, with the equivalent UTC window running from September 12 to September 14. Player applications are open through August 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT, or September 1 at 2:59 a.m. ET, via the game’s official website.

According to details provided by SEGA and relayed by Gematsu, the test is aimed at evaluating online multiplayer stability before the game’s full launch. It will support cross-play across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5 and Steam. Although the final release is planned to include single-player and story content, this test will be limited to multiplayer.

Participants selected for the test will be able to try two modes: Pickup Race, in which up to six players compete to deliver passengers and earn money within a time limit, and Cops ’N’ Cabbies, a team-based mode with two groups of three players. Both modes will be available through ranked matches or custom matches. The test will include two maps, four characters and six cars with tuning options.

Gematsu also notes that SEGA released a new trailer focused on the West Coast map. The game will continue the series’ use of real-world storefronts, with IHOP and Amoeba Music among the brands confirmed for that map. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently planned for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC.
