The overall tie finished level at 4-4 on aggregate, after the first leg in Edinburgh also ended 2-2.

Nile Post reported that Mato came off the bench and made an immediate impact. He set up Hearts’ second extra-time goal, then converted his penalty in the shootout, helping his side win 4-3 from the spot. Hearts had taken a lead through Kaboré and later extended it through Calvin Miller, while Rapid Vienna fought back to force penalties. Hearts were also reduced to 10 men late in normal time after a red card for Tomas Magnusson, but held on to qualify.

The report said the appearance was Mato’s first in the UEFA Conference League, marking a notable step in his career.
