Coventry, Ipswich, Hull - promoted trio enjoy positive starts

What the report says
BBC Sport Football reports that Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City have all made encouraging starts to life back in the Premier League. Across nine games, the three promoted clubs have collected 31 points combined and all are currently outside the relegation zone. Coventry have 9 points, while Ipswich and Hull are level on 11 each.
For Coventry, the turnaround has been notable. Frank Lampard’s side began the season with four straight defeats and were bottom after a difficult run that included losses to several strong opponents. Since a heavy defeat at Brighton, however, they have won three of their next five matches, including a 3-1 victory over Sunderland that lifted them to 15th. The BBC says Coventry spent more than £140m on 12 permanent signings over the summer as they reshaped their squad for the top flight.
Ipswich, who returned to the Premier League after one season away, also look more competitive after a difficult 2024-25 campaign. The article highlights Julio Enciso’s influence, noting his goals and assists have helped them pick up useful results, including a draw with Hull. Hull have had the most eye-catching opening, opening with a win over Manchester United and following that with a victory at Coventry plus draws against Aston Villa and Chelsea.
The BBC notes that the long-term picture remains uncertain, especially with tougher fixtures ahead for Hull, but says all three clubs have reasons for optimism based on their early points return and performances.
