CoRSU Launches Third Annual Disability Walk to Raise UGX 400 Million for 100 Children Living with Disabilities

Watchdog Uganda reports that Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disability in Uganda, known as CoRSU Hospital, has launched the third CoRSU Disability Walk in Kisubi in July 2026. The campaign aims to raise UGX 400 million to fund surgery, therapy, assistive devices and follow-up rehabilitation for 100 children living with disabilities.

The charity walk is scheduled for Sunday, 4 October 2026, at the MUBS Sports Ground. CoRSU is organising the effort with partners including EMKA Foundation, Makerere University Business School, Crown Beverages, Great Outdoors, Humanity & Inclusion and Uganda Development Corporation. Watchdog Uganda also listed donors such as CBM, Hope and Healing International, Smile Train and MiracleFeet as supporters of CoRSU’s work.

According to the report, CoRSU estimates that each child needs about UGX 4 million for comprehensive care. The hospital says nearly 300 children remain on surgery waiting lists each year due to funding gaps, and that meeting this year’s target would cut the annual unfunded surgery backlog by about one-third. The 2025 walk reportedly raised more than UGX 71 million, supporting surgeries, rehabilitation and other specialised services for patients.

The launch was attended by Patrick Menya from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, representing the ministry as guest of honour, and CoRSU chief executive Robert Ochai.
