What the report says

Italian club Como have completed the signing of defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a transfer package reported by BBC Sport Football to be worth more than £30m. The move gives Como a player who has spent almost his entire footballing life at Chelsea, having joined the London club as a child and gone on to make 151 appearances in all competitions.

BBC Sport reported that the 27-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ side. Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with up to a further £5.1m in add-ons, after what the article described as lengthy negotiations. Como, who finished fourth in Serie A last season to qualify for the Champions League, are building a squad for their first campaign at that level.

Fabregas said Chalobah fits the club’s ambition and leadership profile, while Chalobah described the move as exciting and said it was especially meaningful to work again with Fabregas. The defender, who has two senior England caps and was once a late addition to a World Cup squad, won five trophies at Chelsea, including the FA Cup and the Conference League. For Chelsea, the sale is part of a broader reshaping of the squad; more generally, it underlines Como’s willingness to invest heavily after their rise in Serie A.
