Como chiefs giving up seats to older fans for Champions League debut

Como’s leadership is handing some tickets for the club’s first Champions League match to older supporters, BBC Sport Football reported. President Mirwan Suwarso and other directors are giving up their seats so fans born in 1950 or earlier can attend Thursday’s home game against RB Leipzig in the Italian club’s European debut.

The match at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, on the shores of Lake Como, comes after tickets sold out quickly. BBC Sport said the stadium holds about 12,000, but capacity has been cut by around 1,000 because of UEFA broadcasting and operational requirements, leaving demand well above supply.

Suwarso said on Instagram that the club could not accommodate everyone who wanted to be there, and that executives chose to prioritize supporters who have followed Como through earlier eras. The move adds to the story of a club that has risen sharply in recent years.

Como qualified for the Champions League by finishing fourth in Serie A last season under former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The club had long played in the lower divisions, returned to Serie A in 2024 after a 21-year absence, and is now preparing for fixtures against several major European sides in its first continental campaign.
