What the report says

Sporting News has published a 2026 Commonwealth Games medal tracker and schedule page for the event in Glasgow, where the Games are set to run from Thursday, July 23, through Sunday, Aug. 2. The page is designed to update medal standings as events are completed, with all listed nations and territories currently shown at zero before competition begins.

According to Sporting News, about 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories are expected to take part across 10 sports. The program includes six integrated Para sports, with competition covering athletics, swimming, netball, boxing, track cycling, 3x3 basketball, bowls, artistic gymnastics, weightlifting, judo and para disciplines including wheelchair basketball, para swimming, para athletics, para powerlifting, para bowls and para track cycling.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for July 23 at The Hydro, with the Closing Ceremony set for Aug. 2. Sporting News reports that events will be staged across four main venue areas in Glasgow: Scotstoun Stadium, the Scottish Event Campus, Tollcross International Swimming Centre and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena. Glasgow previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

The outlet also notes that medal-table rankings are based first on gold medals, then silver and bronze totals. For context, Australia led the Birmingham 2022 standings with 67 golds and 179 total medals, ahead of England with 58 golds and 176 medals, while Canada finished third with 26 golds and 92 medals overall.
