Al Jazeera, citing Reuters, reported that Team England gymnast Gabriel Langton was taken to hospital after a serious fall during the men’s team gymnastics final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The report said the 19-year-old suffered a concussion after coming off the horizontal bar and landing headfirst in the final rotation of Friday’s competition.

Medical staff attended to Langton on the floor for several minutes, and the event was paused for an extended period while he received care. He was later secured on a stretcher with head and neck protection and transported from the arena for further assessment. Team officials said he was conscious, able to move and speaking with doctors after the incident.

Team England said it appreciated the rapid response from medical personnel and would provide further updates when available. Langton had joined the England squad as a replacement for Max Whitlock, the six-time Olympic medallist who was sidelined by injury, according to the report.

The accident overshadowed the end of the competition. After the final resumed, England finished with the silver medal behind Canada, while Australia took bronze, its first men’s team gymnastics medal at the Commonwealth Games since gold in Delhi in 2010.
