What the report says

The Hollywood Reporter previewed the major Hall H programming for San Diego Comic-Con, framing the 2026 convention as a test of whether superhero and franchise projects can still command fan enthusiasm. The outlet said Hollywood studios and fans are returning to San Diego with a slate that includes Marvel Studios, DC’s Green Lantern series, a “Spaceballs” sequel, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and “Star Trek.”

According to THR, the schedule begins July 23 with Paramount+’s animated “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender,” which is set to show sneak peeks before a Ballroom 20 premiere and July 25 platform launch. HBO Max’s “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” follows with Kevin Sussman and creators Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady. On July 24, Prime Video plans to present early footage from season three of “The Rings of Power,” alongside “Blade Runner 2099,” while HBO Max’s “Lanterns” brings stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre ahead of the Green Lantern show’s debut next month.

THR also highlighted Amazon MGM’s “Spaceballs: The New One,” due in theaters next spring, and a “Pan’s Labyrinth” anniversary panel with Guillermo del Toro, Doug Jones and Ivana Baquero before a fall theatrical rerelease. Paramount+’s “Star Trek” panel on July 25 will mark the franchise’s 60th anniversary with talent from multiple titles, including “Strange New Worlds” and veterans George Takei, Michael Dorn and Robert Picardo.

The biggest attention may fall on Marvel Studios’ July 25 presentation. THR reported that Kevin Feige is returning to Hall H with new footage and plans, as anticipation builds for “Avengers: Doomsday” and Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU return as Doctor Doom.
