Warhammer Community reported on 23 July 2026 that Games Workshop has added full Combat Patrol support to the Warhammer 40,000 app. The update is aimed at players who want a smaller, faster format for Warhammer 40,000, using preset forces and fewer miniatures than standard games. The publisher positioned the mode as a route for beginners to try a faction and for existing players to run quicker pick-up games.

According to the announcement, the app now contains the Combat Patrol rules at no cost, with no rulebook, Codex or app subscription required to access that content. The update also brings Combat Patrol into the app’s War Journal feature, where players can use army-specific missions and track scoring during play. Supported material includes datasheets, army rules, enhancements and bespoke mission objectives for the relevant Combat Patrol forces.

Warhammer Community said the initial app support focuses on the current core Combat Patrol range, with the intention that each faction with a Combat Patrol has one current army aligned with the boxed product available in stores. The company also said support is planned for older Combat Patrol sets released previously, while new Combat Patrols tied to future Codexes and releases are expected to be added during the edition.

The article highlighted Armageddon owners as already having access to two Combat Patrols: the Ork ’Ardmob and the Space Marines Assault Force. It also pointed players toward Getting Started sets, the Warhammer 40,000 Starter Set and free tutorial material on Warhammer Academy.
