Wrexham and defender Conor Coady have agreed to end his contract by mutual consent, according to BBC Sport Football. The 32-year-old centre-back had joined the Championship club on a permanent transfer from Leicester City in the 2025 summer window, with the fee undisclosed and reported by the BBC to be believed to be about £2m.

Coady had entered the final year of his deal, although Wrexham had an option to extend it by a further 12 months. The club said it was grateful for his contribution and wished him well. BBC Sport also noted that he has not been involved in any of Wrexham’s four matchday squads so far this season.

The departure comes as Wrexham continue to reshape their squad during the transfer window. The BBC reported they are close to signing central defender Joe Worrall from Burnley, while manager Phil Parkinson is also looking to add another attacker before the deadline. Coady, who has 10 England caps, started the club’s first five matches of the campaign before slipping down the pecking order and spending part of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he made 12 appearances. The move underlines Wrexham’s ongoing defensive changes as they try to strengthen for the Championship season.
