What the report says

MacRumors reported that Anthropic has added iOS Simulator support to Claude Code for desktop, making the feature available in public beta. The update, announced Tuesday, July 21, 2026, allows Claude Code to open an app project in Apple’s iOS Simulator pane when a developer asks it to build, run or check the app.

According to the report, Claude can observe the simulated iPhone or iPad environment as the app runs, interact with it, and revise the project while developers continue using the simulator. Anthropic says the Claude Code pane controls the simulator directly rather than relying on broader “computer use” controls, meaning it does not require macOS Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions for that workflow.

The integration is limited to Claude Code Desktop on macOS and requires Xcode with the iOS platform installed. MacRumors said the simulator pane works only in local sessions. Anthropic has also published setup instructions on its website.

The update matters because it brings AI-assisted coding closer to a full app development loop for Apple platforms: writing code, launching it in a simulator, checking behavior and iterating. MacRumors also noted a privacy consideration: screenshots from the iOS Simulator device viewed by Claude are sent to Anthropic and retained under the company’s standard conversation retention settings. Anthropic advises users not to sign in to real accounts on simulator devices used by Claude.
